Perfect Chest Shape
The female breast (lat. “Mamma“) is a secondary sexual characteristic of the woman. It consists of fatty and connective tissue, a mammary gland and a visible nipplewhich is surrounded by the areola of the same color. As the largest gland in the body, the glandula mammaria produces Breast milk. Therefore, its primary function is to nourish newborns and infants. Last but not least, the breast is a symbol of femininity and fertility. In this article we explain the anatomy as well as the development of the female breast. The breast is located in front of the large and small pectoral muscle (M. pectoralis major and minor) and extends approximately from the second to the seventh rib. The shape and size of the breast varies from woman to woman. These depend on genetics, hormonal fluctuations, age, stage of development, the amount of fat in the body, and connective tissue. But also malformations or breast surgery can also change the natural appearance.
The flat part between the two breasts is the actual bust (Sulcus intermammarius). In the inner tissue of the breast, in addition to fatty tissue, there is the mammary gland (glandula mammaria). Its structure is also influenced by hormonal balance: because only during pregnancy and lactation is the mammary gland fully formed. The mammary gland consists of several cavity systems, the so-called glandular lobules (lobulus glandulae mammariae). These accumulate lactiferous cells, a lumen, and myoepithelial cells that express milk from the glandular lobule. The milk-forming and myoepithelial cells are accumulated on a thin collagen layer surrounding the entire lumen. The lumen has an excretory duct (terminal duct) that opens into a small lactiferous duct (ductus lactifer). When several glandular lobules join, a large, grape-shaped glandular lobe (lobus glandulae mammariae) is formed. A large mammary duct (ductus lactifer colligens) leads from this, which is formed from the duct system of the small mammary ducts and opens into the nipple. All large milk ducts of the total of 10-20 glandular lobes dilate shortly before the nipple to form milk sacs (sinus lactifer). These milk sacs and the glandular lobes themselves are arranged in a star shape around the nipple. The visible, light to dark brown or light red nipple is located on the center of the breast embedded in the areola of the same color. It secretes breast milk after pregnancy. The milk sacs assist in the milk secretion as they act as a kind of pump.
The lymphatic vessels in the breast
The lymphatic system is a transport system in the body. The lymphatic fluid contained consists of white blood cells and proteins to transport waste products of metabolism, nutrients, pathogens or cancer cells. The breast is crisscrossed by a dense lymphatic vessel system. Lymph fluid passes from smaller to larger lymphatic vessels (lymphatics), which have several lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are crossing points of important lymph vessels, where cells and pathogens are filtered and repelled in case of infections or diseases. For this reason, the lymph nodes can swell during illnesses and infections. The removal of lymph fluid occurs through four different routes – mainly through the armpit. This is the reason why it is important in the treatment of breast cancer to clarify whether or not the cancer cells are located in the lymph nodes close to the breast.
Tasks and function of the female breast
The most important function of the female breast is in the feeding of newborns and infants. infants. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the glandular end chambers of the breast finish forming so that breast milk can be secreted through the nipple during breastfeeding.
The breast as a symbol of femininity
As a symbol of femininity, the breast exerts attraction to possible sexual partners possible sexual partners. Preferences for certain breast sizes and shapes vary among both men and women, as aesthetics are subject to fashion trends and personal taste. The appearance of the breast – size as well as shape – can be changed by plastic surgery. Some women also adorn themselves with nipple piercings. The female nipples are an erogenous zone zone. When aroused, the nipples stand up due to muscle contraction and the areola swells.
Development and growth of the female breast
Embryos of both sexes lay down a mammary gland. However, breast development and growth take place later due to hormonal changes take place. In girls, the breast begins to grow at puberty because of changing hormonal balance, making it a secondary sex characteristic. In boys, breast growth at this age is usually hormonally suppressed. In rare cases, however, hormonal imbalance can cause a mammary gland to form, causing the breast to grow (gynecomastia). The female breast is different in every woman. Whether large or small, the bust is constantly changing throughout life, depending on several factors, including
- Hormone fluctuations,
- pregnancy,
- contraceptives,
- age or
- Weight fluctuations.
What factors determine how big the breast is?
Besides the genes there are many factors that determine how big the breast will be.On the one hand the breasts change during menstruation. At the beginning of the cycle, the breasts are usually somewhat smaller and more elastic, as the estrogen level drops. Shortly before and during ovulation, they become plumper and somewhat larger. Also hormonal contraceptives like the pill play a role in the size of the breast. Due to the changes in hormone balance, the breasts may grow a little. The weight is also a factorsince the breast consists of fat as well as mammary glands and connective tissue. Therefore, large changes in weight can also cause the breast to change.
The ideal breast size – is there such a thing?
The question about the ideal breast size has certainly occupied one or the other woman in the course of her life. It is not so easy to find a suitable answer to this question – as is well known, tastes are different. So how big the ideal breast is, is in the eye of the beholder. Basically the breast size is considered aesthetic if it fits the proportions of the woman.. At If you are dissatisfied with your own breaste, there are ways to proceed against it. Breast surgery can help those affected to achieve the desired bust size. Often, corrected breasts also strengthen and improve the self-esteem and quality of life of affected women. It is noticeable that in the past, society considered large breasts to be feminine and beautiful. Decisions should not be justified by social principles, but should be made out of one’s own conviction. It is important that every woman remains true to herself. In any case, one thing can be anticipated in advance: Nothing and no one is perfect. Perhaps our striving for perfection is one of the reasons why the trend towards breast augmentation has lasted for decades and does not seem to be abating in the future.
The perfect breast size according to a study
A study by Zava on the subject of ideal breast sizein which 1,000 Americans and 1,000 Europeans were surveyed, showed that More than 60% of women and about half of men prefer a medium bra size.. A large breast is considered ideal by about 31% of women and 15% of men. The small breast, on the other hand, scored best among only 9% of women and 11% of men.
What is a normal breast size?
On the subject of cup size, the study shows that both the majority of women and men consider a prefer a C-cup as their breast size. So, we can talk about a normal breast size as a medium breast size. Only 2% of men stated that an A cup is the perfect size. The study goes even further and defines the ideal breast size by country. In Germany and Austria, as in the USA, the C-cup is also preferred. Poland and Hungary, on the other hand, find a B cup to be a normal breast size. Study participants were also asked if they were satisfied with their own bra size, to which the majority of women responded in the affirmative. Women from Great Britain with an A cup were the most dissatisfied with the size of their breasts. A clear result cannot be derived from this study either. Ultimately, there is no right or wrong breast size. Of course, when it comes to the topic of perfect bra size, it always depends strongly on your own condition. After all, it is still most important that you feel comfortable in your body and satisfied with your breasts. The social trend is definitely moving away from so-called “bodyshaming” and pigeonholing. Nevertheless, there are women who, in their opinion, have breasts that are too small or too large. This often leads to physical, but also psychological pressure and dissatisfaction with their own body. This can go so far that women are even ashamed of their breasts and shy away from contact with men. Breast surgery can be a suitable solutionto change the appearance of the breasts and relieve the women of this psychological suffering. Depending on the problem, a breast augmentation, a breast reduction or a breast lift in Munich may be considered.
Breast growth during puberty
Between the ages of 9 and 12, puberty usually begins in girls. From this point on, the body changes and the breasts begin to grow. At first, a slight bulge forms in the nipples. This can be a little itchy, but this subsides after some time. Then the mammary glands start to form, which leads to the growth of connective tissue. Usually one breast grows faster than the other. However, these asymmetries usually even out again by the end of growth. How large the breast will actually become cannot be predicted until the end of the growth phase.
Breast growth during pregnancy
Already at the beginning of pregnancy, the breasts begin to change. They become plumper and the nipples more sensitive. The speed of the growth of the breasts is different for each woman.. They can grow rapidly in the first weeks, but also shortly before birth. The fact is that the breasts are 1.5 times larger than before pregnancy. In the second trimester, the mammary glands begin to produce breast milk.. At this stage, the nipples may darken somewhat. About 2 to 4 days after birth, the onset of lactation begins. The breasts become very plump and also heavier, which can lead to feelings of tension. However, the reason for the growth is not only the milk, but also the improved blood circulation in the breast, which allows more lymph fluid to form. What happens after weaning? When you stop breastfeeding, the breast forms back again. Over the next 3 months, it returns to the same size it was before pregnancy. Since the tissue has sometimes been subjected to a lot of stress, skin sagging and volume reduction of the breasts are possible after breastfeeding.
When is breast growth complete?
Physical development during puberty is complete at the age of 17 – 18. At this age, the breast is also fully grown in the vast majority of cases. Hormone fluctuations such as an excess of estrogen can still influence the bust size up to the age of 21. For example, if you use contraception with the pill, your breasts may still grow a little when you start taking it.
Do breasts get smaller again with age?
With increasing age, the connective tissue loses its elasticity. Therefore, the breasts also become smaller and less elastic with age. From 35, most women already feel the first changes in their breasts. At this age, many have had a pregnancy, which also has an influence on the female breasts. At the end of 40, beginning of 50 the menopause sets in. In this phase the first wrinkles become visible. Water retention also occurs, which can cause the breasts to grow again. As a side effect, a slight feeling of tension occurs, which can also cause slight pain. At 60, the water retention recedes and the tissue loses elasticity. The breasts become softer and smaller. Gravity causes the breasts to hang further down.
How do I calculate my cup size?
It is very easy to calculate your breast size. To measure your breast size, take a tape measure and measure the underbust circumference and the upper bust circumference once. To determine the underbust circumference, place the tape measure around your back and bring the tape together just under the breast at the underbust crease. For the upper chest, measure at the highest point of your chest. That is, where the tissue protrudes the most. Finally, subtract the upper chest measurement from the underbust measurement and you have your cup size. With this you calculate the elevation of your breast. Cups break down as follows, but can vary by bra manufacturer:
- Cup size AA: 10 – 12 cm.
- Cup size A: 12 – 14 cm
- Cup size B: 14 – 16 cm
- Cup size C: 16 – 18 cm
- cup size D: 18 – 20 cm
- and always in 2 cm steps further
Possible malformations of the breast
Breast malformations are all deviations in the shape of the breast that do not correspond medically to the standardbut usually do not represent any physical risks. These are caused either by maldevelopments during puberty, which are due to genetics or diseases. However, changes in breast shape and/or size are also partly due to due to age or pregnancy. The most common malformations are
- Sagging breasts/flabby breasts,
- asymmetrical, underdeveloped/shrunken or disproportionate breasts,
- tubular or absent breasts,
- breasts with a missing or additional nipple, and
- Hatch or inverted nipples.
What are the options for correcting unwanted changes?
As we age, physical changes occur that may also be unwanted. This is often perceived as unaesthetic and women are no longer satisfied with their breasts. So that those affected feel comfortable in their bodies again, breast surgery is a helpful method. Women with overly large breasts are often plagued by symptoms and complaints such as back pain. This can lead to limitations in quality of life. Other breast deformities such as an asymmetrical breast, a tubular breast or a sagging breast can be restored to the desired shape with surgery, as can breasts that are too small or too large.
Breast augmentation
Breast augmentation can be achieved with either implant or autologous fat, and can even be shaped very naturally with a combination of the two procedures. In the case of breast augmentation with implants, it is possible to increase the size of the breasts by several cup sizes exactly according to the woman’s wishes. There are also differently shaped implants. The selection of the right implants and the decision for the right breast size can be facilitated with the help of a 3D simulation. At Dr. Maximilian Eder, 3D simulation is used during the consultation for breast augmentation with implants. In this way, every patient sees a before and after comparison of the breast. In the case of breast augmentation with autologous fat, breast enlargement can only be achieved by a maximum of 1 cup size. For this purpose, the patient’s own fatty tissue is removed from the thighs or abdomen, for example, and gently injected into the breast using fine, blunt cannulas. Breast augmentation with autologous fat is particularly suitable for women who have sufficient fatty tissue and do not want implants in their breasts. A combination of breast augmentation with implants and autologous fat, the so-called “hybrid” breast augmentation, combines the two procedures. This avoids the need for an implant that is too large and too heavy for the skin, so that the breast is not overstretched. To compensate, the body’s own fat can be introduced into the superficial regions of the breast, thus giving the breast a much softer and extremely natural shape.
Breast reduction
Women do not only suffer from small breasts, a large breast is often a great burden. In this case, a breast reduction can help to regain a better quality of life and self-esteem. Breast reduction involves reducing both the size and weight of the breast. It is often advisable to combine a breast reduction with a breast lift in order to achieve an optimal result.
Breast lift
A breast lift is always suitable when the skin in the breast area is sagging. This can happen due to pregnancy, major weight loss or also due to a weakness of the connective tissue. Breast lift can eliminate sagging breasts and help the patient to have a new attitude towards life. For this purpose, the excess skin and, if necessary, breast tissue is removed and the sagging breast is reshaped. A breast lift for sagging breasts without much volume can also be achieved with implants. In this case, fuller breasts are achieved by inserting the implants and the excess skin can be removed by a combined lift. The surgical method is therefore also called plus-minus surgery. The perfect bra for my figure
Nice of you to stop by my site again. I’m Miss Anita, your online fit consultant. Are you looking for THE bra that fits your figure and breast shape perfectly? Then you’ve come to the right place. I’ll explain everything about the different breast types and we’ll look at which cut flatters which figure best.
The 9 most important breast types
Slim bust
Elongated narrow bust, nipples lie lower
The slim bust is characterized by lower-set nipples, as well as a wider breast line that narrows towards the bottom. Often women of this breast type also complain of weak connective tissue. Usually found in the smaller cup sizes, it is important with this breast shape to support and somewhat lift the breast tissue. Feel free to choose here between sexy push-up bras, elegant balconette bras or shaping bras with cups. Asymmetrical breast
Different sized breasts
Surely, every woman has different sized breasts and that is completely normal. However, for most, the difference is so slight that they hardly notice it. However, some women have the problem that the difference in the size of their cups is clearly visible. Provided that this size difference does not cause any health problems, it can easily be visually counteracted by choosing the right bra. Ideal for the asymmetrical breast shape are bras with removable cups, t-shirt bras, push-up bras and cup bras. Round breast
Evenly full, round breast
Do you belong to this type of breast? Then you can consider yourself really lucky. This is because this breast is perfectly round, firm and has even volume both at the base of the breast and in the lower breast area. Bra selection for this breast shape is really a breeze, as it requires very little support and shaping. Here you can easily reach for molded cups with underwire, sexy triangle bras or comfortable soft bras Lateral breast
significantly more volume at the sides
Do you have a relatively widely spaced bust with a larger gap in the middle? Then you can associate yourself with this breast shape. Similar to the east-west shape, the bust here runs to the outside very voluminous and round – but a little plumper and with nipples set in the middle. For a beautiful décolleté, it is best to use supportive underwired bras that gently shape your neckline and lead to the center. Balconette bras with a low cleavage line and push effect are also perfect for a sexy evening outfit. East-West Breast
Nipples directed outwards to the side
In this case, the breast is positioned more to the side and the nipples point to the left and right outside. The challenge for the bra here is to bring the bust back to the center. It is also very important that there are no chafing seams on the side of the bra that could pinch or even injure the sensitive nipples. Therefore, the woman with east-west breasts should resort to comfortable t-shirt bras or cup bras. A support built into the side of the bra not only helps prevent the breast from leaking out to the side, but also gently pushes the bust towards the center for a beautiful cleavage. Athletic bust
More muscular, wider bust with less tissue.
This type is one of the less voluminous breast shapes and is usually found on a V-shaped torso. With the athletic breast shape, the underbust size often turns out to be slightly larger, with the cup size tending to be small. Often women of this breast type desire a visually larger bust and a fuller cleavage. This can be easily achieved with push-up bras or cup bras. A balconette bra is also ideal here, as it lifts the breast tissue through laterally placed straps and incorporated half cups and thus helps to create a great neckline. Bell-shaped breast
Volume in the lower breast area
Women with a bell-shaped bust have less tissue at the base of the breast, whereas their lower breast area tapers out very voluminously. This type of breast usually requires a larger cup and, due to the heavier weight of the breasts, should pay particular attention to firm support and good support when choosing a bra. For example, bras with a cup, balconette bras or full coverage bras are suitable here. A true all-rounder is the classic underwired bra. It not only provides perfect support, but also a beautiful, round breast shape. Teardrop-shaped breast
Fuller breast in the lower area, nipples centered
With this very symmetrical-looking bust, the bust – similar to a teardrop – tapers towards the bottom in a very voluminous manner. Especially in women with large cup size, this breast type is very common. When buying a bra, this breast shape is also rather uncomplicated. Underwired bras, whether with or without a cup, not only provide the necessary support, but also conjure up a beautiful décolleté. Breast cancer – mastectomy
Breast removed on one or both sides
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. That is why our Anita Care range explicitly addresses the specific needs of women who have undergone breast surgery. With individual and extra skin-friendly breast prostheses and compensating shells, the missing bust can be reconstructed in an optically perfect way. For the well-being of the affected woman, we are constantly developing new functional post-op bras, such as elegant basic bras or exclusive, feminine looks. Perfect Chest Shape.
