Use these steps to set up Google Cloud Print for the PC or Mac.

  1. Open the Chrome browser and enter the IP address of the printer in the Chrome URL bar (Omnibox).Figure : Example of the Chrome URL bar

    Note: If you don’t know the IP address of the printer, you can print a network configuration report that lists details such as the IP address and Mac address of the printer. The method for printing a network configuration report varies depending on the printer model. Go to https://support.hp.com, enter the printer model, and then access the support options for the printer model.

  2. Click Log On in the upper right corner of the screen.Figure: Example of the “Log in” option
  3. Enter your ID and password.

    Note: The default user ID is Admin and the default password is sec00000. If you forget the ID and/or password, reset the printer’s network settings to the default values.

  4. A pop-up window will appear asking you to change the ID and password. Although you have the option to change or update the ID and password, it is not required. Click No if you want to keep the ID and password you just entered as the default.Figure : Example of changing the login name or password.
  5. Click Settings, and then select Network Settings from the drop-down list.Figure: Example of selecting “Settings
  6. In the frame on the left, click Google Cloud Print. If Google Cloud Print is not available, go to https://support.hp.com, enter the printer model, and then access the printer model’s support options to determine if it is a Google Cloud-enabled printer.Figure : SyncThru Google Cloud settings example.
  7. Click OK when a pop-up window appears, and then click the URL under Printer Descriptionto be redirected to the Google Cloud confirmation page.

    Note: If the reservation URL is not displayed, click the refresh icon (two circular arrows) above the Undo button. Figure : Example of the reservation URL.

  8. If you are not already signed in, sign in with the same Google/Google Mail account you first used to sign in to the Chromebook.Figure : Google/Google Mail login example
  9. Click Complete Printer Registration when prompted.Figure : Example of clicking “Complete printer registration”.
  10. After the registration is complete, a message similar to the example graphic will be displayed. It may take a few minutes for the newly added printer to appear in the Printers list. Once the printer is available, you can print. If you want to view available printers, click on Manage Printers.Figure : Example of the thank you message

The printer is now ready to print. For example, if you want to print a Google document (link: https://docs.google.com/), just click the print icon. If the printer is turned off or in power saving mode, turn it on or reactivate it so you can print. Figure : Example of the printer icon for printing a Google document. You can always access Google Cloud Print settings by logging into the Google Cloud Print website https://www.google.com/cloudprint#printers. If problems with the computer include the computer not recognizing the printer or the printer not printing properly, make sure the printer has been updated to the latest firmware. For assistance, go to https://support.hp.com, enter the printer model, and then select the support options for the printer model. Do the following under Software and Drivers locate the printer’s current firmware version and run the firmware update. The fastest way to set up your HP ENVY Inspire printer is through the HP Smart App on a mobile device (Android or iOS). Alternatively, you can connect your printer to the network from the printer control panel to complete the setup. You can download HP Smart from 123.hp.com or from your app store.

Connect the printer to the network using the printer control panel.

If your printer does not connect through HP Smart, you can also connect your printer through the printer control panel. Note: Before you begin, verify the following:

  • The Wi-Fi network has been set up correctly and is working properly.
  • The Chromebook is connected to the network.
  • The printer is close enough to the router to ensure a strong Wi-Fi signal.
  1. On the screen, tap Get HP Smart Software screen, tap the Help icon .If the control panel is on the Start screen, go to step 6.
  2. Tap Connect Later.
  3. Tap OK.
  4. Select Auto. Update (Recommended) and then tap Save.
  5. Tap Nextto align the print head.
  6. On the printer home screen, tap the tab at the top of the display or swipe down to open the Dashboard.
  7. Touch the Wi-Fi icon .
  8. Touch the Settings icon .
  9. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.
  10. Follow the steps in the Wireless Setup Wizardto connect your printer to the network.

Setting up your Chromebook for printing

You can print photos, documents, web pages, and emails from the Chrome browser and supported apps. Note: Make sure the printer is connected to the network before you start printing.

Add your printer to the Chromebook

If you haven’t added your printer to the Chromebook, follow these steps:

  1. On the Chromebook, click the clock in the bottom right corner and then click the Settings icon. .
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on Advanced.
  3. Click under Print click on Printer and then click Add Printer.
    • Printer is listed: Select the printer, and then select Add.
    • Printer is not listed: Select Add Manually and follow the instructions that appear to add the printer.

Printing from your Chromebook

  1. Open the file you want to print.
  2. In the Chrome browser, click the Settings icon, and then select Print.
  3. Click next to Destination click Change and then select your printer.
  4. Change your print settings and click Print.
