When I take pictures from the Internet, they look like they came out of a toaster. What image size do I need for a Full HD monitor? Os:Win 10

5 Answers

Hey, so a full HD monitor is: 1920×1080 pixels. Of course you can use bigger backgrounds, they will be scaled automatically to the Full HD size 🙂 Just enter your desired image and behind it 1920 x 1080…. Then all pictures with such formats come Go to system settings then go to display or something with a screen then it says on the left side of the screen resolution and so it says e.g.1280-1024 and that’s the resolution

What is the right Instagram image size?

Instagram loves square and only displays the Instagram profile picture in a circle. However, since this is displayed larger on desktop, we recommend 180 x 180 pixels as the image format. This way you are independent of the device. With square image formats, important objects belong in the center of the image if possible. If you work with templates, simply move the motifs into the visible area yourself. For your feed, you should consider an Instagram post size of 1080 x 1080 pixels if you like it square. Images in portrait format should ideally be 1080 x 1350 pixels, while in landscape format they should be 1080 x 566 pixels, but this is not recommended for Instagram. The same goes for videos: Choose an aspect ratio of 1.91:1 and 4:5, respectively. Horizontal videos are best in a 16:9 ratio, and the recommended image size for Instagram Stories is 1080 × 1920 pixels. You should also upload reels and Instagram videos in this size. The perfect cover image for your reel is 420 x 654 pixels. The cover of your Instagram Story highlight appears round. Choose 1200 x 1200 pixels as a suitable size. And for the placement of the motif, as always: center, please!

Checklist for the right Instagram format:

  • Instagram profile picture: 110 x 110 px, better 180 x 180 px.
  • Stories, reels, videos: 1080 x 1920 px
  • Reel cover: 420 x 654 px
  • Instagram image size in feed and carousel: 1080 x 1080 px (square), 1080 x 1350 px (portrait), 1080 x 566 px (landscape)
  • Story cover: 1200 x 1220 px
  • Video ratio: 1.91:1 or 4:5, horizontal videos: 16:9

What are the image formats for Facebook?

On Facebook, you show your business at its best – as long as the Facebook post format is right. Important elements are cover images and images for the timeline and link previews.

Optimize profile pictures, cover images and shared content for Facebook

The Facebook profile photo is displayed at 170 x 170 pixels on desktop, 128 x 128 pixels on smartphones, and 36 x 36 pixels as a thumbnail. Since the display is cropped in a circle, an image with a clear, centered focus is a good choice. Important information also belongs in the center of title images. Or you can arrange them with an offset to the page margin. Use the format 820 x 312 pixels for the cover image. For optimal display in the mobile version, it’s best to choose a size of 640 x 360, but 820 x 312 pixels remains your preferred choice. Event images, i.e. cover images for Facebook events, are displayed with 1920 x 1080 pixels. Shared images are best uploaded at 1200 x 630 pixels if you want them in 16:9 landscape format – Facebook displays them in the feed with a maximum width of 470 pixels and on your page with a maximum of 504 pixels. Friends and followers, however, have the option to enlarge images by clicking on them. Meanwhile, there are also shared images in 4:5 portrait format. For this you choose 1200 x 1500 pixels. Upload shared images with at least 500 x 630-714 pixels. Ideally, images of split links should have 1200 x 627 pixels, split videos 1200 x 675 pixels. Highlighted images look best at an image size of 1200 x 717 pixels. Social media image sizes for Facebook

Facebook formats for ads and stories

Ads have their own image sizes on Facebook: You set them best at 1080 x 1080 pixels. The carousel is a special case: Here you can enter up to ten images with 1200 x 1200 pixels each. Your Facebook Story looks especially good at 1080 x 1920 pixels. Attention: Facebook does not like text in images. Ad images in which text is recognized perform less well than photos with little or no text. If you’re not sure, have Facebook check your image directly for text ratio.

Hi guys, I would like to know what dimensions an image needs to have so that you don’t have to stretch it to make it full screen. Does anyone know? Because I want to get a nice desktop background. In case it helps: I have a 15.6 inch desktop. MfG, MrGeldern

Marked as helpful by the questioner you have to right click on the desktop – customize – display – to see the resolution, but I think it is 1366×768 😀 640 x 480 4:3 VGA 800 x 600 4:3 SVGA 1024 x 768 4:3 XGA 1400 x 1050 4:3 SXGA 1600 x 12004:3UXGA Right click on the desktop -> customize -> display depending on the resolution you have set there. (for me e.g. 1280 x 1024 pixel) (of course everything smaller or bigger works, but the ratio should stay the same) Right click on the monitor- properties- settings- check screen resolution.
