Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard has come to an end and a jury found in favor of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star. The desire of many fans to deny Amber Heard her greatest DC role has received new attention, but it will probably not come to that. That’s because the court hearing has already revealed why the 36-year-old actress has been banned by Warner Bros. not thrown out of “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”. was. Amber Heard was not allowed to appear at the DC FanDome because of the defamation trial was not allowed to appear at the DC FanDome and not appear on the poster for “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”. Hollywood insider Kathryn Arnold confirmed this in a court filing (via TheWrap):
“Ms. Heard was not invited to grace the poster, nor to attend the [DC FanDome] event, and in fact they told her she couldn’t come.”
In addition, the studio initially wanted to cut the actress from the film altogether. That’s because market research had revealed that every time Amber Heard’s name was mentioned in connection with a movie, series or magazine article, there was an uproar on social media. But Heard’s management team, as well as two key actors fought for the actress, as Kathryn Arnold explained:
“In February 2021, there were conversations that Amber’s – I’ll be blunt with you – options for tenure would not be taken. They may not have wanted to rehire her. Her management team fought very hard and they ended up hiring her, but not just because of what her management did, but also because star Jason Momoa and director James Wan came through for her.”

Trial reveals original “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” plot detail
In the course of the trial, it also came to light that Amber Heard’s role in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” was drastically cut. Before her presence as Mera was reduced to two appearances – at the beginning and end of the film – the character was supposed to play a prominent role in the plot due to her relationship with Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa). Kathryn Arnold testified in court:
“Part of what worked well in ‘Aquaman’ was not just the action sequences, but also the relationship between a strong female character and a strong male character – that’s very empowering. So that worked for them from the beginning. The poster for ‘Aquaman’ that went around the world, one of the main posters, showed the two of them together, standing proud and strong, as this couple. And when you’re in the business of developing scripts, of course you want to continue things that work. And according to Ms. Heard, when she read the first script for ‘Aquaman 2,’ she had a strong romantic arc [throughout] the film, and she also got to some great action sequences at the end of the storyline in that script. When she first read the script for ‘Aquaman 2,’ she starred in it.”

The bottom line
What viewers shouldn’t expect from “Aquaman” is profound dialogue and an innovative story. Two half-brothers fighting for power have long since arrived in the superhero cosmos since the Marvel heroes Thor and Loki. Nevertheless, the story offers one or two surprising twists. The fact that the film doesn’t get boring is also due to Jason Momoa, who gives the superhero a casual touch, and the many action scenes along with the powerful images that director James Wan (44) conjures up on the screen. The search for the mysterious trident takes Aquaman and Mera across the fantastic underworld of Atlantis to the desert, to Italy and to the most mysterious underwater worlds. Some characters and creatures may come across a bit overdrawn, others remain far too pale, but in the end Wan compensates with a brilliant finale.
